Inspirational Verses for the Week: Hebrews 10:19-23 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,  and since we have a great priest over the house of God,  let us draw near to God
with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

July is National Ice Cream Month. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90 percent of the nation's population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriate ceremonies and activities." About 9 percent of all the milk produced by U.S. dairy farmers is used to produce ice cream, contributing significantly to the economic well-being of the nation's dairy industry.

A Note from “Body & Soul, A Celebration of Healthy Eating & Living” – Help manage your weight. When combined with a healthy, active lifestyle, a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables may help you manage
your weight. Many fruits and vegetables are low in calories and fat, many contain fiber and water to help you fill full.

A Day In African American History: On July 27, 1919, an African- American teenager drowned in Lake Michigan after violating the unofficial segregation of Chicago’s beaches and being stoned by a
group of white youths. His death, and the police’s refusal to arrest the white man whom eyewitnesses identified as causing it, sparked a week of rioting between gangs of black and white Chicagoans, concentrated on the South Side neighborhood surrounding the stockyards. When the riots ended on August 3, 15 whites and 23 blacks had been killed and more than 500 people injured; an additional 1,000 black families had lost their homes when they were torched by rioters.

Grateful People Are Healthier People - "A simple grateful thought turned heavenwards is the most perfect prayer."  Doris Lessing
Think of anything - big or small - that exists in your life, whether it is a relationship, a job, a particular flower, or your morning coffee. Now, if this thing were to disappear tomorrow and be gone forever, would you miss it? If you would, it is something to be grateful for today - because it is here in your life right now. How would our lives change if, every day, we focused on our abundance rather than on what was lacking? According to new research, we would be happier people. On the contrary, materialists - people who are focused on obtaining material goods - tend to feel more depressed and unsatisfied. - See more at: http://spiritualityhealth.com/blog/traci-pedersen/grateful-people-are-happier-people#sthash.seXZG0WV.dpuf

There were dangers awaiting me,
Destruction was sure to be
But thank God for angels
That were shielding and protecting and looking out for me,
Thank you, Lord

The Devil had a plan to kill me, I know
But God intercepted his plan
And told the Devil, "No"
God blocked it
He wouldn't let it be so
No, He wouldn't let it be so

Haven't lived a perfect life
Seems I've done wrong more than I've done right
But thank God for compassion and forgiveness
That kept me from a terrible plight

You see my life was spinning out of control
The fact that I'm still alive today
Ain't nothing, nothing but a miracle

God blocked it
He wouldn't let it be so
No, He wouldn't let it be so

***Satan isn't after your joy; he is after your strength. The devil wants you too weak to pray. He wants you worn out and burned out. Satan wants to kill the head because he knows the body will fall! But the Lord will lift your head and shield you from the devil's plot against you, if you put trust in Him. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried. He is a shield to all those who takes refuge in Him. 2 Samuel 22:31.

*** Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle***

Happiness depends on what you can give. Not what you can get. ~Mahatma Gandhi

Remember…Every problem is an opportunity to trust God. Christ must be the center of your relationships because He provides a stable, fixed point of reference; otherwise, your relationships will be frail and fragile. ~ NFBC Deaconess Board

Remember……Ask, and it shall be given to you; Seek, and ye shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  Luke 11:9.

Life's most persistent and urgent question is, "What are you doing for others?" ~Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

A Note from the Pastor's Desk

We serve an on-time God: wouldn't you agree? So, let's all make a special effort to be on-time for church! We put forth a lot of effort to be on time for our jobs, appointments and other events that we consider to be important. But God should be at the top of our priority list. Let us keep in mind that God gave us His best. Doesn't He deserve our best in return?
